Article on Innovation Within Complex Higher Education Systems was accepted in the 16th CONTECSI

The paper Innovation Within Complex Higher Education Systems by Fabio Nascimbeni, Marcel Simonette & Edison Spina was accepted at the 16th International Conference on Information Systems and Technology Management (CONTECSI) to be held from May 29/31, 2019, in the School of Economics, Business and Accounting of USP (FEA-USP).

For the authors, the growing international competition, the globalization of education, the budget cuts, and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) revolution that is re-shaping all the aspects of university life are examples of distinct pressures that together bring complexity to higher education systems. To deal with these complexities, Open Educational Resources and Open Educational Practices are being considered as an option to face the need of increasing the number of students, the accessibility, and the equality of Higher Education in times of budget cuts.

In this paper, the authors explore some dimensions of the complexity of higher education systems, focusing on emerging technologies and practices of students and staff mobility enhanced by ICT. Building on this analysis, they conclude that ICT and Open Education are not only making teaching and learning in universities more efficient and affordable; they are changing the foundation of academic contexts.

The article will soon be available on CONTECSI´s page and on CEST´s publication page.
