International Meeting Brazil’s AI Bill

On September 25, 2021, at 01 PM (-3GTM), professors from Brazil, India, France, Baren, Canada, Egypt, Croatia has met to discuss the Brazilian AI Bill (#21/2020). The general result was gathered in a written report presented to the Brazilian Federal Congress (with the support of Federal Deputy Rosana Valle). The whole idea is to share with Brazilian Congress a multicultural experience on this matter.

More than 600 persons attend #BRAZILs_AI_BILL last Saturday, so far (all different streaming sources considered). Thiago Felipe Avanci, Ph.D. conduct the meeting and welcome all the participants. The meeting was conducted in English with simultaneous translation in the caption to Portuguese. Brazilian Federal Congressperson Rosana Valle salutes every lecturer and institution connected with the event. Edison Spina, Ph.D. presented his welcome to the participants in the name of Centro de Estudos Sociedade e Tecnologia CEST POLI USP. Zélia Pierdoná, Ph.D. presented to all a warm welcome representing Mackenzie’s Presbyterian University. Zilda Gonçalves presented her welcome to the participants in the name of ETHICSAI. Jassim Haji Ph.D., the chairperson of the International Group of Artificial Intelligence, had spoken first. He reminds the importance of Artificial Intelligence in society and some of the probable future challenges that Brazil and all the societies must face. Divya Dwivedi, MBA established some interesting Brazilian and Indian comparisons on AI regulations, considering some similarities between those two countries. She also comments about some future perspectives on feelings emulation from bots, which opens a spiritual perspective on the matter. Eugenio V Garcia, Ph.D. spoke about the benefits and some challenges of implementing AI in the Brazilian public administration. He commented also about the necessity to regulate the Law with well-fitted under law normative. Aco Momcilovic, M.Sc. brought an analysis of the private sector, with some preoccupation, especially concerning personal data use. He also comments on some possibles uses of AI in HR. He is one of the founders of the Global AI Ethics Institute. Emmanuel Goffi, Ph.D. is also one of the founders of the Global AI Ethics Institute. Defending multicultural experience, he explained the importance of effectively observe and created a normative solution that can fit Brazil’s best interests, and the solution, in his opinion, is not always to implement law from other countries without any reservation. Veridiana Rotondaro Pereira, Ph.D. shared some preocupations on labor with labor revolution 4.0. As an engineer, she has spoken about the importance of the Brazilian workers to adapt and to study, so they can fit those new necessities. Silvia Melchior, MBA traced some interesting parallels between Brazil’s Bill and EU’s Bill on AI and this indicates some suggestions for “dos” and “don’ts” to the Brazilian Congress on AI Bill.
