CEST Present at Scale-Up Bootcamp

At October 18th 2017 the Scale-up Bootcamp was organized in FEA/USP, and important meeting between professionals, academic professors, researchers, entrepreneurs, leaders and governmental authorities, all directly linked to one of the most relevant aspects that have been mobilizing the national economy, Entrepreneurship and Startups. Professor Moacir de Miranda, of FEA’s department of Administration, organized the event. CEST member, Professor Clovis Alvarenga-Netto was present.

According to Alvarenga-Netto, many cases on startup scalability were presented, regarding the favorable aspects and difficulties. Still according to Alvarenga, one of the high points of the event was the understanding that not only the university needs to be closer of the so called business environment, but that “the business environment needs to effectively and urgently seek out universities if they want to develop in a consistent way”.

There are many risks in competitive market, and the numbers show that many startups barely kick off and do not meet continuity. However, with a systemic approach, conceptual bases and disposition for decision making, the business models diversify themselves. The perspectives of integration between undergraduate students’ talent and force of will, allied with the experiences of the teaching body and researchers, as well as the support of the productive environment of government agencies, make the entrepreneur ecosystem extremely challenging. Implementing the business model, testing it, going to market and pivoting are all key words in the path. Non-aversion to risk is a part of this new business landscape.
